EAST WENATCHEE – As a kick-off to this year’s legislative session, Washington State Senator Brad Hawkins is hosting a Legislative Open House on Friday, Jan. 12 at noon at the Chelan PUD Service Center at 203 Olds Station Rd., Wenatchee, Wash.
The event’s purpose is to connect with constituents and hear what’s important to them in 2024 and beyond.
“I’m excited to host the legislative preview event,” Hawkins said. “It’s a great way to connect with people. It will include a presentation from me about what to expect in this session and leave some time for discussion.”
Last year, over 2,300 bills were introduced during the Legislative Session. Approximately 400 were approved, leaving much work to be done during this year’s session. Hawkins expects more bills to be introduced during the session, with updates to state budgets also considered.
“An open house event like this early in the session provides an opportunity for me to highlight legislative activities and for constituents to share their thoughts with me,” Hawkins said. “I hope people can make it.”
The Open House will last approximately one hour, from noon to 1 p.m. and will be held in the Chelan PUD Service Center boardroom.
The 2024 Legislative Session begins Monday, January 8 and adjourns, sine die, March 7, 2024.
